At the table

You hum a line, say “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen”, and read the note under its title in the Host Pack: the comma belongs after the word merry, because “it means may God keep you merry, gentlemen”.

The words began as a French poem written by a wine merchant.

What you get5 PDF files

  • Cards, US Letter (103 pages) and A4 (102 pages)how to play, then cards 1 to 100, one to a page
  • Host Pack, US Letter and A4 (14 pages each)your first words, the 40 carols in a ready call order, a tick sheet and cut-out call chips
  • TV slides, 16:9 (42 slides)

Why it works

The cards are 4 x 4 on purpose: with 16 squares, a long title still prints at 22 pt or larger. No two cards share a line, so two players cannot finish the same line on one call. Both were checked on the finished PDF. Every carol was first published before 1929, so the words and traditional tunes are in the public domain in the United States.

Made for: Family parties, church groups, carol services and senior centers.
