Christmas Bingo for Adults

One hundred bingo cards from seventy-five Christmas words the whole table knows - candy cane, mistletoe, eggnog, Silent Night, snow globe, fruitcake - and no two cards are alike. Fifty large print cards, 4 x 4, every word set at 23 pt or larger. Fifty classic cards, 5 x 5, every word 17 pt or larger. One call order for both, so one caller runs the whole room.

Every call has a line to read out

The caller does not just say “Tinsel.” The call sheet gives one short line for every word - that tinsel was first made of real silver in Nuremberg, that Jingle Bells never once mentions Christmas, that the first Christmas card was printed the same year as A Christmas Carol. Seventy-five of them, checked against sources, so the game carries the conversation while the room marks its cards.

Two sets of cards, one game

Hand the large print cards to anyone who wants them and the classic cards to everyone else. A 4 x 4 line needs four calls and a 5 x 5 line five, so the first BINGO usually comes from a large print card - or run the sets one at a time for an even race. Both sets are dealt from the same seventy-five words, so one call sheet, one tick sheet and one set of chips run the whole room.

Checked, not claimed

Every card is read back out of the finished PDF and re-proved before the pack goes out:

  1. 100 cards, no two the same within a set - as a grid and as a set of words
  2. no word twice on one card
  3. every word on every card is on the call list, so every card can win
  4. within a set, no two cards share a row, column or diagonal, so two players cannot complete the same line on one call
  5. the ready call order is tested on these cards: use cards 1 to N of one set, shuffled, and the first three BINGOs each have one winner
  6. each word falls on 10 or 11 of the 50 large print cards and on 16 or 17 of the 50 classic cards - nothing is dead weight
  7. large print words 23 pt or larger, classic words 17 pt or larger

A smaller table?

Christmas Bingo Starter is the same game for up to twenty players: ten large print and ten classic cards from the same seventy-five words and the same call order. No Starter card shares a line with a card of this pack, so a Starter table and a full-pack table can play one game from one caller.
